REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY PARADE & SERVICE IN NEWBURY – 8 NOVEMBER 2026
Newbury will come together on Sunday 8 November 2026 to commemorate Remembrance Sunday, honouring the service and sacrifice of all those who have served in defence of our country and our freedoms.
The main parade will step off from Pelican Lane at 10:30am, marching along Northbrook Street, where the Mayor of Newbury, Cllr Jo Day, will take the salute. The parade will then continue to the Market Place for the Service of Remembrance.
A qualified British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter will be present to help make the service accessible. Members of the public wishing to stand where they can see the interpreter are asked to position themselves in the roadway near Zizzi, where a clear view will be available. Signage will be in place on the day to help direct attendees.
Following the service, the parade will march past the War Memorial, where wreaths will be laid, before continuing to St Nicolas Church.
The Mayor of Newbury, Cllr Jo Day, said, “Remembrance Sunday is an important opportunity for our community to come together to honour the courage, service and sacrifice of all those who have served, and those who continue to serve.
“It is always deeply moving to see so many people in Newbury gather to pay their respects and reflect on the impact of conflict on individuals, families and communities. Alongside the Royal British Legion, we are proud to welcome veterans, serving personnel, cadets and uniformed organisations taking part in the parade, as well as members of the public joining us in the Market Place for this important act of remembrance.”
Service sheets will be available on the day and can also be downloaded from the Newbury Town Council website.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
