NEWBURY TOWN COUNCIL WELCOMES VISITORS TO YOUNG TRADERS MARKET
Newbury Town Council is inviting residents and visitors to come along and support the next generation of entrepreneurs at the Newbury Young Traders Market, taking place in the Market Place on Saturday 30 May alongside the regular Saturday market.
Organised in partnership with the National Market Traders Federation (NMTF), the event forms part of a nationwide initiative celebrating young business talent and showcasing emerging traders from across the UK.
Joe Harrison, the NMTF’s CEO, said, “Markets are such an important part of our history and heritage, and we are delighted to have Newbury Market onboard and providing a platform to encourage 16–30-year-olds to ply their trade face to face with their customers. Over 1,000 traders register annually to take part in the YTM at a local event, so Newbury offering pitches to young traders from the region offers more trading opportunities for young people locally.”
The Young Traders Market will feature a range of stalls run by young entrepreneurs offering everything from handmade crafts and artisan goods to unique gifts and innovative products. Shoppers will have the chance to discover something new while directly supporting small, independent businesses at the start of their journey.
The initiative aims to inspire and nurture future business talent, giving young people valuable real-world trading experience and the opportunity to grow their ventures.
Cllr Vaughan Miller, Chair of the Council’s Market Working Group, said,
“Newbury has a proud market heritage, and we’re delighted to welcome the community to support these young entrepreneurs. The Young Traders Market is a fantastic opportunity to see new ideas in action and to encourage the next generation of local businesses.”
Residents are encouraged to come along, explore the stalls, and show their support for the talented young traders bringing energy and innovation to Newbury’s historic market.
